Adam & Eve Surveys Consumers on Open Marriage

HILLSBOROUGH, N.C. — AdamAndEve.com asked more than 1,000 adults if they could have an open marriage — a marriage or relationship where both partners agree they may each have sexual relations with others.

Of those polled, 9 percent of the women and 17 percent of the men said they would be agreeable to an open marriage. Eighty-one percent of the women and 67 percent of the men said they were not open to it, and 10 percent of the women and 16 percent of the men were unsure.

“Current research shows that around 5 percent of the U.S. population are involved in open relationships,” AdamEve.com sexpert Dr. Kat Van Kirk said. “Open relationships are not for everyone, but it is encouraging to see that more and more people are open to the idea that sex — and relationships — do not follow a one-size-fits-all rule.”

Adam and Eve Director of Marketing Chad Davis said, “Adam & Eve is proud to provide a wide array of products to enhance lovemaking on any level. Our primary goal is to promote healthy sexuality between consenting adults.”

The web-based survey, conducted by an independent third party survey company, of more than 1,000 American adults age 18 and up, was sponsored by Adam & Eve to study sexual preferences and practices.
